Ascension offers a variety of programs for our children, youth, and teens designed to nurture and grow their faith development and to foster a sense of community among each other and within the greater community.
Ascension offers four different formation opportunities for our younger members.
Nursery (newborn to pre-K) – For our youngest members (newborn to pre-K), nursery care is available throughout the year beginning at 10 am on Sunday mornings. The nursery is located downstairs in Dewitt Hall. Our experienced nursery staff create a loving, caring environment for our youngest members.
Children's Chapel (pre-K to 1st Grade) – For children in preschool through 1st grade, Children’s Chapel begins September 26th, 2010. This new curriculum includes storytelling, music and movement. Class begins at 10:15 am each Sunday and children join parents in church for Holy Communion.
Seasons of God (2nd through 5th Grades) – For our older elementary group (2nd through 5th grades), the Seasons class begins September 26th, 2010. The curriculum is based on the ecumenical Seasons of the Spirit program with additional modules focused specifically on our Episcopal traditions. Class begins at 10:15 a.m. each Sunday and children join parents in church for Holy Communion.
Magnolia Mission Youth(MMY) (middle school and high school)– MMY is an ecumenical youth group supported by four churches in the Magnolia area of Seattle. MMY creates a welcoming and safe place for middle and high school kids to learn about and grow their faith in God.
VERGE for Middle School Youth meets 5-6:30 PM Sundays at Magnolia Lutheran Church.
LEAP for High School Youth meets 7-8:30 PM Sundays at Magnolia Presbyterian Church.
During the summer months, we encourage and invite children to join us for our entire summer worship service each Sunday morning. A children’s table in our church sanctuary provides a special sacred space for our younger members to participate in our liturgy and to form community with each other.
Special seasonal activities for children also occur throughout the year and include an Easter egg hunt, interactive Stations of the Cross designed specifically for children, Christmas Caroling, a visit from St. Nicholas, and our annual Christmas pageant.
